The Movies: From Dusk till Dawn (1996) From directors Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino comes 'From Dusk Till Dawn', a crazed throwback to the heady days of grindhouse cinema. Split in two half's, what starts out as a 'criminals on the run' picture, turns into a blood soaked vampire gore fest. Working from a story idea by make up artist Robert Kurtzman, Tarantino crafts a clever mix of western and horror complemented by Rodriguez's 'drive-In movie' spirit. "I had no idea the novel would provoke the reception it's gotten, and I still don't quite get it," Bret Easton Ellis Published in 1991 by Vintage Books, the novel had previously been dropped by distributor Simon & Schuster. Told in the first person perspective by serial killer and Wall Street yuppie Patrick Bateman . The book's savage depiction of violence, mixed with a pornographic level of sexual content, generated a great deal of controversy and outrage. Having spent months researching murders at the New York Public Library, Ellis's American Psycho has an in-depth medical realism when detailing the novels numerous ghastly murders. Ellis commented: " [Bateman] was crazy the same way I was. He did not come out of me sitting down and wanting to write a grand sweeping indictment of yuppie culture. On the 75th anniversary of the first appearance of The Joker , 'Suicide Squad' Director David Ayer revealed on his Twitter account Jared Leto's radical new take on Batman 's most famous foe. I remember thinking at the time quite clearly, “What the actual f**k?” I was never one of those people who hated on the idea of Heath Ledger as the Joker, after seeing his damaged, brooding turn in 'Broke Back Mountain' I knew he had the necessary acting chops to carry the character. When the now infamous troll-hushing photo of Ledger in full Joker face hit the web, any lingering fears I had completely dissipated.
